As cold-water immersion continues to establish itself as a mainstream wellness offering, commercial operators are discovering that running an ice bath is considerably more demanding than many first anticipated. High daily bather loads in a relatively small volume of water place significant demands on water quality, filtration, chemical dosing and maintenance, creating a level of operational complexity that many leisure facilities are not expecting and are not equipped to deal with.
To address this challenge, CET has partnered with swimming pool water treatment specialists, Specialist Pools Services Ltd, to introduce a fully integrated automated management system for commercial ice baths.
The new solution combines CET’s commercial ice bath expertise with Specialist Pools’ extensive experience in automated water treatment technology, bringing together automated chemical dosing, automated emptying and refilling, scheduled backwashing, continuous TDS water top-up within a single integrated skid-mounted plant system. The baths can also be monitored remotely, online.
Designed specifically for high-use leisure environments, the system enables operators to automate many of the routine maintenance tasks traditionally carried out manually. Backwashing can be scheduled overnight while facilities are closed, reducing operational downtime, while remote monitoring allows operators to oversee system performance, water quality and key operating parameters from anywhere.
The result is a significant reduction in staff resource, improved water quality consistency and a more reliable experience for members.
Adrian Worsley, Managing Director of CET, said:
“Ice baths have moved far beyond elite sport and are now becoming a core part of many gyms, health clubs and wellness facilities. What many operators quickly discover, however, is that commercial ice baths require intensive management to maintain water quality and hygiene under high bather loads.
Our partnership with Specialist Pools changes that. We’ve developed an integrated automated solution that removes much of the day-to-day operational burden from site teams while helping operators maintain consistently high standards. Ultimately, we’re giving operators the confidence to expand their recovery offering without creating additional maintenance challenges.”
Phil Stevens, Director at Specialist Pools, added:
“Our expertise has always been in helping operators manage complex water treatment systems safely, efficiently and reliably. Applying that knowledge to commercial ice baths was a natural next step.
Working with CET has allowed us to develop a solution that brings proven pool automation technology into one of the fastest-growing areas of commercial wellness. Together, we’re helping operators reduce manual intervention, improve efficiency and deliver a consistently high-quality experience for their members.”
The automation package is now available across CET CryoSpa’s commercial ice bath range, including the recently launched CryoSpa Serena and the Glacier Ice system, offering leisure operators a future-ready solution as demand for recovery and wellness facilities continues to grow.
